Behold, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro

Following the introduction of the Daydream View mobile headset in San Francisco just recently, Google will be unleashing yet another enthralling product. The package will be part of the search engine giant's vision to establish its mark on the VR market.

The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is slated to be released in November. The upcoming device is the central part of Google's Project Tango which is an initiative of a computer vision technology platform made for mobile units. Here is a product that integrates depth-sensing lens into smartphones, headsets and tablets and allows users to view their environment in a far more captivating light.

A key element of this technology is a supported microprocessor which can chart a surrounding in multiple dimensions at the same time. User interaction is very much palpable which means that a room, for instance, becomes somewhat engaging instead of just being a lifeless block. Tango applications make the approach spatially aware by fueling the headset and the device to be more responsive to the user's whims.

With a team of rear cameras including a standard 12-megapixel lens being reinforced by specialized technology, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is the first of its kind to present augmented reality (AR) in real time.

The arrival of the Phab 2 Pro is very much anticipated. It has been under development with Google's Advanced Technology and Projects since 2014. While it easily qualifies as a phablet with an imposing 6.4-inch frame, its lightness and thinness makes the unit convenient to control. It leans on motion tracking, depth perception and area learning to produce an AR experience.

Interestingly, the perceived entry of the Lenovo device has propelled the Tango hardware on top of the manufacturing list. Qualcomm signifies its intention to pursue an approach called heterogeneous processing, which regenerates specialized image and audio co-processors in smartphones for other tasks, on its Snapdragon 600 and 800 chips.

With features that include a QHD display, a 4GB RAM, a fingerprint sensor, a 4,000mAh battery plus a Snapdragon 652 processor, the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is primed to introduce a combination of simulated and real time display to all users. The capability of the unit to drape physical spaces with virtual effects is itself a milestone.
