Donald Trump's Tape Scandal Updates: Melania Trump reportedly chose not to join husband for joint interview over hot mic scandal

Donald Trump's supporters recommended that he and his wife Melania Trump should do a joint interview following The Washington Post's publication of the "hot mic" video scandal, which dates back to 2005. The New York Times said Melania isn't interested in doing so.

That's because Melania is referring to the joint appearance Bill and Hillary Clinton did back in 1992 when the former ran for President. Such move, which was done in light of sexual assault accusations against him by Gennifer Flowers, is said to have jeopardized his campaign.

Instead, she issued a written statement saying, "The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader."

She then added, "I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world."

In his defense, Donald Trump released a video apology and the issue came up again at the second presidential debate.

In his statement, he called the releasing of comments he made about women that were caught on the type a "distraction" from bigger political issues.

"I've never said I'm a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I'm not. I've said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me, know these words don't reflect who I am," Trump said in the new video.

On Saturday, Bill Pruitt, a producer on the first two seasons of The Apprentice, declared that there are "far worse" scandal tapes of Trump than the one that was released on Friday. In that offstage conversation with Billy Bush from 2005, Republican nominee boasted of his power to sexually assault women because he's famous. What could be worse than that?

On Sunday, Chris Nee, another veteran TV producer and Clinton supporter who didn't work on The Apprentice - tweeted about other words that were caught on a "hot mic" back in 2005. According to crew members and producers Nee has spoken with, those recordings include Trump using the N-word.

Nonetheless, Nee made it clear that she has not seen or heard the tapes recordings herself, so the existence of any such types remains no more than a rumor at this point.
