It's fabulous to work for Jennifer Hudson.
The singer and actress gave her personal assistant, Walter Williams, a house for Christmas.
Hudson, 32, posted an Instagram video on Dec. 31, 2013 of Williams' reaction when she told him about the surprise.
"My assistant Walter's reaction when he found out I was buying him a house for Christmas!" the Academy Award-winning actress and "Spotlight" singer wrote in the video's caption.
"What?" Williams shouts in disbelief after the paperwork for the house's purchase slips out of his hands. Hudson runs to the couch as Williams stands in place, screaming in disbelief. Still screaming, Williams then runs across the room and jumps on top of Hudson.
Several other people were in the video watching the happy moment, including Hudson's sister Julia, Yahoo! Omg! reported.
On New Years Day Hudson posted a picture on Instagram of her outside covered in snow. "He dumped me in the snow yall! That damn Walter!!" the caption said.
Hudson, who has a 3-year-old son and a fiancé, and Williams have been friends since childhood, Yahoo! Omg! reported.
"My assistant Walter is going to kill me for this, but whatever," Hudson said in response to a question about her gay friend during a 2011 interview with Advocate.
"Walter and I have been friends since sixth grade. He's by far my closest friend and my closest gay friend ever," Hudson said, according to Yahoo! Omg!
Hudson has faced tragedy during her rise to celebrity. Her mother, brother and nephew were murdered in 2008. The Chicago native hopes to change her childhood home into a shelter, E! Online reported.
"We still own the home and I would like to turn it into a shelter for women as soon as possible or by my mother's birthday, which is Nov. 7," Hudson's sister told DNAinfo Chicago in August 2013, according to E! Online.
