Exactly eight days from now, the 2016-2017 NBA regular season is about to unfold. All of the teams are gearing up for the 82 games in a six-month long season. But as per latest NBA trade rumors, Boston Celtics are still on the trade market looking for deals that could somehow make their lineup contend to others.
The Celtics have many tradeable assets and they have the luxury to unload these players in order to get a high caliber player in return. Celtics general manager Danny Ainge have earlier announced that if there's a good trade deal coming they will go for it if that will make them "contenders". And it looks like they are targeting two players on the Indiana Pacers roster.
According to Sportsrageous, the Celtics and the Pacers is trying to close a deal that involves Pacers All-Star player Paul George. The trade deal indicates that George together with Monta Ellis will be moved to the Celtics in exchange for forwards Jaylen Brown, Jae Crowder, James Young, Amir Johnson and two future 1st round draft picks.
The reports on the latest NBA trade rumors also say that the Celtics' move to acquire George and Ellis is part of their build up to surround Al Horford great shooters and reliable superstars that will help them go a long way. A Horford and George tandem looks potent and can contend with teams like Cavs, Knicks, Bulls and Heat in the East. But will Pacers team president Larry Bird will let go their franchise player?
In a separate report by The Inquisitr, the addition of George would likely fill the position that will be left by Brown and Crowder in the small forward. Al Horford will start at power forward as Johnson replacement and Tyler Zeller or Kelly Olynyk will be their starting center. As for Ellis, he will likely be Avery Bradley backup at the shooting guard position and Isaiah Thomas will be their starting point guard.
On the other hand, the Pacers will have the major adjustment if ever George will be traded. The pair of Jae Crowder and Jaylen Brown might partly solve the absence of George in the lineup. Amir Johnson will be coming off the bench for Thaddeus Young while James Young might be waived by Pacers in the process.
This trade deal complies all the NBA trade policy and salary cap rules as stated in the report. But it will be hard for the Celtics to convince the Pacers to give away their franchise player since many experts are saying that the Pacers are one of the best team in the East as of today.
Will the Boston Celtics pull off this trade to acquire George and Ellis? Will the Indiana Pacers tempt to bite on this trade proposal? Stay tuned for the latest NBA trade rumors and update.
