11-Year-Old Dallas Girl Stabs Relative, Toshia Edmonson, 9 Times After Argument

Authorities took an 11-year-old girl in custody after she allegedly stabbed an older relative nine times early Sunday morning, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.

Though the young girl's name has not been released, the victim was identified as 41-year-old Toshia Edmondson, who several local outlets are reporting is the girl's mother.

According to a police report, the girl said she stabbed Edmondson after she pushed her into a couch and threatened to give her away. Investigators say she grabbed the knife from the kitchen and began attacking her.

"The girl told police after a physical confrontation, she waited for Edmonson to fall asleep before she took a knife to her head, neck and shoulders. Another person in the apartment building called the police," KXAS TV reported.

A third person in the apartment witnessed the incident and called 911. After officials arrived around 4:00 a.m., police discovered Edmondson and the girl covered in blood.

A report in the Houston Chronicle claims Edmondson is in stable condition at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

The girl was charged with family violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held at a juvenile detention center.
