CES 2014: Kolibree Electric Toothbrush will monitor how you Brush Your Teeth

Kolibree electric toothbrush, the first app-connected toothbrush in the world, will let users monitor their tooth care.

During the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Sunday, the French-based startup Kolibree launched the "world's first connected electric toothbrush" that will aid users have a healthier set of teeth.

CNET detailed how to use the electronic toothbrush as easy as ABC. Users will just have to download the Kolibree's app on their smartphone and link their toothbrush through Bluetooth. After linking the devices, the toothbrush gets to record a set of relevant data in the mobile app every time they brush their teeth.

The relevant data, which can be analyzed and reviewed in the mobile app later, includes the quality of tooth brushing, the duration of the action, and how accurate it was when it comes to cleaning every tooth and gums. Users can also share the data with their dentist.

The toothbrush is equipped with a sensor that identifies how much tartar is being removed when brushing. It also tracks brushing activity so users can keep a consistent cleaning each time.

"The idea is not to brush stronger, but smarter," said Kolibree's co-founder Loic Cessot to AFP.

Furthermore, the mobile app can also keep track of multiple electronic toothbrushes allowing every member of the family or every member of a group of friends can monitor how each of them is doing.

To make tooth brushing more fun and exciting, the company added a bit of tricks in the device that are meant to push users perform better each time. Additionally, Kolibree had also made an API that would lure third-party developers to create additional apps that will encourage users to make their teeth cleaner.

Kolibree is thinking of offering its users different kinds of toothbrushes. The price range may cost between $100 and $200 and will be out in the market by third quarter of 2014.
