GoPro Hero5: Review, specs, price and durability of the "best action camera" today

To those who've been yearning for the new GoPro Hero5 Black, there is good news. The latest version is here in a massively improved avatar of what came before it. Hence, you could call it the "best action camera in the world" today.

The GoPro device offers a triple whammy: it is handy, simple and powerful. With dual operating buttons, the novice need not worry about meddling mechanical technicalities. As the camera will listen to your voice command, it can help you to click images and record videos with no problems. Imagine the advantages when the camera is out of range, such as with a selfie stick. Due to its miniature and compact size, it is portable and easy to carry.

"You might need to raise your voice to be heard over the rushing wind, but it doesn't respond well when you shout - perhaps it can smell fear," explains smh.

The Hero5 Black at $399 costs a $100 less than its predecessor, Hero 4 Black, but still shoots 4K video at 30 frames per second in "single, burst and time lapse modes." The 12-megapixel camera turning out bright, dynamic photos with finer details and less distortion and the image stabilization as well as "advanced wind noise reduction features" would help anyone who experiences shaky moments on-the-go.

You can preview images, play recorded videos and change preferences through its 2-inch touchscreen display. Being the first GoPro camera with a built-in GPS, it can immediately capture a user location, with the right content. The battery can last for a couple of hours and just 15 minutes after one charge.

And don't worry if you fall into the water with the camera. Its durable waterproof design is the USP. You can even plunge to a depth of 33 feet with no housing or waterproof covers over it, which usually skews the audio of recorded video clips.

The GoPro Hero5, a well-known brand, is thus a great upgrade, reaching the standards of global go-to action cameras.
