Sony kickstarts its SmartWear range with a new accessory, SmartBand, which tracks your daily activities, special moments, workouts, entertainment and a lot more.
Sony is adding a new wrist wear to its wearable tech range, beyond its smartwatches. Finding CES 2014 the best place to show off its new technology, Sony unveiled SmartBand, the first wearable tech gadget within the company's latest SmartWear product range. The flexible wristband records every detail of a user's daily activities and displays them on Android-exclusive Lifelog application, to recollect past memories, enjoy the present and plan for the future.
SmartBand is a new accessory in the market that competes directly with the likes of Nike FuelBand, FitBit Wearable and LG's new Lifeband Touch. Sony's new tech gadget does more than just monitor user activity and exercise data. The SmartBand tracks entertainment and information to keep tabs on "how you feel as well as what you do," Sony said in a press release. It can track users' sleep patterns, number of calories burnt and with the help of LifeLog app, users can monitor "how active you were, what pictures you took, were there any special moments?" Sony's Kunimasa Suzuki said, reports The Next Web.
The design suits users' daily clothing, thanks to the wide range of eight bright and classy colors. The band is light, flexible and waterproof, which makes it easier to carry around everywhere. The pricing of the device has not been announced yet.
In addition to the new range, Sony also announced 132 NFC-enabled accessories pairing with Stereo Bluetooth headset with one touch. The announcement adds more updated apps to its recently launched Smartwatch 2, which brings the app total to over 300.
