"The Walking Dead" Season 7 finally premiered on Sunday and it must be said that the first episode was one of the most emotional and moving episodes of AMC's zombie series. However, many audiences might have missed the subtle message that Abraham gave out before going under the Lucille.
His death was preceded by a very brief goodbye message to Sasha and now Greg Nicotero and Michael Cudlitz have explained how it came together, reports Vanity Fair. Monday saw the actor-director duo making conference calls with the press to explain the scene. Both said that Abraham's small gesture sent a big message.
Nicotero said that there were limitations on what Abraham could do as he faced the Lucille in "The Walking Dead" Season 7. This was because they had already shot Season 6 finale death scene from a first-person point-of-view. So, Abraham could not turn to look at Sasha.
According to Nicotero, the goodbye gesture was added by Michael and it was a beautiful moment. That little peace sign was for Sasha and not meant to work at two levels, that is, his fans and Sasha. It was only for her. Notably, Season 7 premiere episode of "The Walking Dead" saw Abraham making a small peace sign to Sasha.
Though he was looking at Negan, he raised his hand slowly making the "V" sign and then the viewers saw a sobbing Sasha, weeping bitterly at the prospect of losing him forever. Those who do not remember, the two made similar signs to each other previously during their patrols when they were separating, an indication of their budding romance and soft feelings for each other.
Meanwhile, AMC has released the trailer for episode 2 and it shows a desolate and dejected Rick who is seen giving up on himself, reports The Independent. Titled "The Well," the second episode trailer gives a good glimpse of the menace Negan is and how bad he is. It also gives a sneak peek at the trouble that lies ahead for the members of Rick's group.
As for Rick, he makes a clear declaration that he is not in charge anymore, but Negan is.
