Nina Dobrev declines comeback in 'The Vampire Diaries' for Kristen Stewart's role in new 'Twilight' movie

The first episode of The CW's The Vampire Diaries season 8 has been aired but fans of the series were disappointed. Why? They did not see the return of TVD's former star, Nina Dobrev, who played the main character Elena Gilbert on the first to the sixth season of the supernatural series.

Rumor has it that one of the reasons why Dobrev has chosen to depart from the series, which she has been a part of since 2009, is because the actress will take part in the rumored sequel of The Twilight Saga.

Four years after the release of the fifth installment of the franchise, Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II, Lionsgate is reportedly interested to release a movie about the film's main characters, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. However, Kristen Stewart, who previously played the role of Bella on the franchise, has reportedly declined the offer to come back.

But the TVD star has reportedly expressed her interest in the role. According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, Dobrev wanted to make a change in her Hollywood career, and chose to explore more on her career in movies rather than on television series. The 27-year old actress is reported to be enthusiastic to land a main role for the possible Twilight movie as the film has the same genre with The Vampire Diaries.

Patrick Wachsberger, Lionsgate's studio chief has revealed that a new Twilight movie is a 'possibility', adding that if the book author, Stephanie Meyer is open to writing a new story based from the characters of the film, the studio would be ready and willing to wait.

It would really be exciting for some fans if this possibility will be confirmed soon. However, according to Parent Herald, not all fans of the film will likely be thrilled when this happens.

Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan have been seen by fans for four years and a Robert Pattinson and Nina Dobrev chemistry is still in question. Still, it remains a possibility.
