Ralph Lauren's Niece Removed From Delta Flight For 'Air Rage'

Jewelry designer Jenny Lauren, niece of fashion mogul Ralph Lauren, was removed from a New York bound plane for being verbally abusive and drunk enough to impose a danger to others, the Associated Press reported.

Lauren was arraigned on Tuesday after a Delta flight from Spain to New York had to make a two-hour stop in Ireland so that she could be removed for her behavior, according to the AP.

She is expected to plead guilty to all three charges on Wednesday which include "making threats and abusive comments, exhibiting drunkenness severe enough to pose a danger to herself and others, and behaving in an obnoxious and offensive fashion," the AP reported.

Judge Patrick Duncan set a $3,400 bail and ordered her to remain in the town of Shannon and report to the police station to surrender her passport, according to the AP.

According to Irish law, "air rage" cases are handled on a case-by-case basis and allows judges to hand out sentences from probation for minor offenses to life in prison for hijacking, the AP reported. Cases such as Lauren's will probably involve a fine and suspended sentence.

The court session carried out on Tuesday occurred in a pub in Ballina, County Tipperary, a riverside village 20 miles east of the Shannon airport where her plane landed, the AP reported.

Ireland judges usually carry out hearing in courts, but usually travel and conduct hearings in public houses in order to facilitate residents living in rural areas, according to the AP.

While police officers were explaining the reasons for her arrest, police officer Yvette Walsh testified Lauren asking: "Can you say that in English, please?" according to the AP. English is the universally spoken language in Ireland.
