Apple's MacBook event: The 5 Biggest Announcements

Here's the five biggest announcement of Apple during the launching of MacBook today.

1.Touch Bar replaces function keys with an interactive touchscreen

The Touch Bar was the showstopper. As previously leaked, the new MacBook Pro has made the function keys defunct with an OLED touch strip that Apple is calling the Touch Bar.

The keyboard's function keys and responds to touch and gestures are replaced with retina display bar. Also, there were changes with software, so if you are in a web browser, the Touch Bar will bring up your bookmarks, including the option to add a new tab, move between tabs, and navigate to a different website. In Photos, editing controls pop up. You can slide your finger across the Touch Bar and browse photos, change filters, or resize. Similar to the Dock, you can control what defaults show up on your Touch Bar, including system controls that you also can access immediately by holding down fn key on the keyboard. Generally, Touch Bar seems to present an alternative to a touchscreen.

2. Touch ID comes to the MacBook Pro

Touch ID is integrated next to the Touch Bar, built right into the power button. Touch Bar uses the same faster second-gen Touch ID sensor from iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 with a sapphire cover, including a new T1 chip with a local secure enclave for Apple Pay security. You can also use it for multi-user devices to quickly switch between accounts simply by tapping the button.

3. Professional apps get updates

Apple has shown an update for various professional apps for the MacBook Pros. Touch Bar is supported by the new Final Cut Pro and can show an interactive view of the video timeline even during playing a video in full screen, including contextual controls for stuff like audio sliders. Apple also made similar kinds of Touch Bar integration with Adobe Photoshop, and DJ Pro. Other applications with announced support include Microsoft Office, Sketch, DaVinci Resolve, and Pixelmator.

4. LG UltraFine 5K Display for the new MacBook Pro

LG made a 5K display specifically for the new MacBook Pro. Phil Schiller (Apple executive) called it the "ultimate docking station" since it can simultaneously display from the laptop while charging it. There weren't many details about the display, but we do know one MacBook Pro can support two of them.

5. Apple TV gets a unified "TV" app

Apple hasn't been shy about advertising it as a gaming and media device which wants to become the center of your living room. With a perfect sense, the newest Apple TV is characterized as the thing which can run applications, including Minecraft and over 2,000 other games on the platform.

What's more important, Apple has announced a new "TV" app for the Apple TV. It's a new unified center for content across all the different apps you have installed. The TV app also uses a single sign on the method that automatically signs you into new applications as you add them to the device.

The app will also be available for iPhone and iPad, allowing you access the same content with the same authentication across all your devices. The TV app will be made available in a free update later this year.

With a help from Apple, you can watch live TV through Siri voice navigation. You just tell Siri to go directly to a sport or the news channels you want to watch. So, if you want to watch the Chicago Bears game, Siri knows exactly what app is playing it and will navigate directly there. Besides that, Siri can list entire sports tables with scores. This way, Apple is making it a lot easier to find what you want to watch without hunting through apps thanks to the TV app.

Apple's MacBook event, overall, was a small event with not a lot of news, but new laptops were presented. Isn't that exciting?
