Russia test fires nuclear-capable hypersonic warhead

As NATO continue to augment their forces at the eastern flank of the Baltic Region, Russia has successfully test fired one hypersonic glider warhead, capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

Dubbed as missile 4202, the warhead was fired from Dombarovsky in Orenburg region to the firing field of Kura at Far Eastern Kamchatka.

"It's the first totally completed test of the warhead capable of reaching the speed of 7kms on the maximum altitude," reported Russian newspaper Izvestiya on Friday.

The hypersonic warhead can be replaced with conventional warheads and could be transformed as intercontinental ballistic missiles in times of war.

According to the report, the newly-developed weapon has anti-radar capability and any missile defense facility could not intercept it.

In a week time, Russia unveiled two powerful warheads. Earlier, it revealed Satan 2, the world's most powerful nuclear weapon.

Satan 2 is 2,000 times as powerful as the Hiroshima nuclear bomb in 1945 as it could deliver a 40-megaton warhead at a speed of 7kps with a maximum range is up to 10,000 km.

Satan 2 is said to contain 16 nuclear warheads and can take 10 different targets in one strike.

On top of these, Russian warships were also spotted moving along the waters off the English Channel.

With the development, tensions at the Baltic region continue to rise with NATO deploying more air and ground assets in the area.

UK vowed to send Royal Air Force Typhoon jets and 800 ground military troops while Germany confirmed to send Leopard 2 tanks to Lithuania along with 650 soldiers.

NATO said that around 1,000 soldiers are now on the move to Lithuania. These troops came from Bundeswehr, France, Belgium and Croatia.

On Thursday, Russian government vowed to response on the continuing build-up of NATO forces and said the country won't ignore such intimidation.

Alexander Grushko, Russia's envoy to NATO, said the allied forces are sowing provocation in the region and its allegation of Russian threats are non-existent.
