Google's recent mobile operating system Android 7.0 Nougat saw a successful release this year. Google also launched two new flagships that are now solely designed and manufactured by Google.
However, an early-access beta developer preview edition was available for most nexus devices way back in may. Users could enjoy a sneak-peek as to how the now and current Android OS version would look and function.
Even though, early access/developer editions are for the said people who are into developing their own applications into the android environment, it was a one-of-a-kind beta enrollment that even a lay-man could use without any hassles.
However, even though the first Nougat phone out-of-the box was LG's now current flagship V20, Google still kept up their promise on making sure their own flagship devices that are now currently re-branded as 'Pixel' line-up from the current year would have the latest edition of their respective operating systems.
Even though update series like '7.x.x' are minor developments with bug fixes and stability issues being rectified, it's still the latest edition of Google's Nougat OS. Even though it's acceptable that previous flagship devices that are curate by Google are the next-in line to receive the latest edition of Android operating systems, it's always been a sort of late-to-the show system that Google somehow fails to avoid.
As always like before, Nexus devices from the previous years are in-line waiting for the new updates to be rolled out for their respective devices. It might take some time but definitely not too long is what we can assume for the moment.
Just shortly after Google announced their 'Pixel' phones shipping out of the box with Android 7.1, it was presumed that their older siblings Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X would be almost there to receive the 7.1 update in a couple of weeks. However, it's now being speculated that most of the devices including flagships of 2015 will have to wait for some more time to patiently wait for the Mountain view giants for updates.
An ArsTechnica report details about the information where the 'nexus' line up of Google smartphones won't be updated until later this year and also wouldn't carry most of the features that the current flagships enjoy. The list also includes the Nexus Player alongside the Pixel 'C' which is the tablet.
It's also evident that Nexus 6 and the respective tablet Nexus 9 has fallen out of the queue since it's eighteen month update-assurance timeline has now expired. But however, Google are still keeping their loyalists guessing since it's assumed Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 too will be receiving the OTA update.
