There is a lot of witch-hunting ongoing in England. There has been a call for searching out witches - or at least their "signs."
One historic British group is hoping that the public will go searching for signs. According to the BBC reports, this year's Historic England is struggling to get the public to help it in mapping apotropaic marks.
These were signs that had been carved into buildings in the Medieval times, so that evil spirits could be kept away. For instance, you could find some carved on the Tower of London, and also the house where William Shakespeare lived.
The signs are not uniform, but are unique. There is a "Daisy Wheel." "It looked like a flower that was drawn with a compass in a single, endless line that could confuse and trap evil spirits," said BBC.
Other signs could be feature letters like AM for Ave Maria, M for Mary or VV, for Virgin of Virgins. They can all be quite a hunt.
"Witches' marks are a physical reminder of how our ancestors saw the world," says the chief executive of Historic England. "Ritual marks were cut, scratched or carved into our ancestors' homes and churches in the hope of making the world a safer, less hostile place. They were such a common part of everyday life that they were unremarkable and because they are easy to overlook, the recorded evidence we hold about where they appear and what form they take is thin."
If you see one you can tell Historic England quickly.
