MTV 'Scream': Season 3 confirmed with 6 episode-run; Season 2 Halloween plot sets the stage

MTV's teenage slasher thriller "Scream" has been renewed for a third season, although the third season is very short with just six episodes. But the halloween episode set the stage for things to come in those six episodes. Season 3 itself came perilously close to cancellation.

The two-hour Halloween event got straight to the chase with serial killer Kieran getting killed in the first 10 minutes, reports the TV line. Furthermore, the story then shifted to the daily lives of the lakewood six, where Emma is unsure about whether she would enter college.

On the other hand, Audrey was trying to get into a relationship with a girl called Gina. And Brooke thinks about moving to New York.

So, the group heads to a lonely island for a weekend getaway, called Shallow Island. They meet the handsome alex, who turns out to be another serial killer. And he is killed by Emma.

The entire episode is a feast for the bloodthirsty. For the die-hard fans, it would be disappointing to find out that Season 3 would be quite short.

Also, according to Parent Herald, Scream Season 2 showrunners will be out of the slasher television show for Season 3. Showrunners Michael Gans and Richard Register are leaving Scream for its third season after holding the fort from original showrunners Jill Blotevogal and Jaime Paglia.

Scream, the MTV TV series was created by Jill Blotevogel,Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin and is based on the slasher movie series called Scream by Kevin Williamson. The series premiered on june 30,2015.

The series did'nt fare as well in TV as it did in the movies. Its second season attracted an abysmal 377,000 viewers which is far away from the viewership on season 1.
