Manchester City had won six straight games in all competition before drawing with Rovers on Saturday in the third round of the FA Cup. In the Premier League, Man City sits in second place with a 14-2-4 record - one point behind No. 1 Arsenal.
While City is the favorite to win the first leg of the semifinal on Wednesday, manager Manuel Pellegrini is expecting a competitive battle.
"Tomorrow is one of the two games of the semifinal of Capital One, it is very important we play here at home and I suppose we are going to have to have a very good performance to win against West Ham," Pellegrini said, via IB Times.
"... (West Ham) had an awful result (in their 5-0 loss to Nottingham Forest), but I don't think they played their best starting seven," added Pellegrini. "I think they played with young players and I am absolutely sure it will be a very different game here to what they played on Sunday - so it's important for our team to play well and to try to win."
West Ham hasn't won a match in any competition since their 3-0 Premier League win against Fulham on Nov. 30. West Ham sits one point above the bottom of the Premier League standings with a 3-6-11 record.
