‘Big Bang Theory’ News: Season 11 renewal delayed due to Kaley Cuoco’s insecurity over Melissa Rauch’s pregnancy subplot; Penny’s character written off?

As "The Big Bang Theory" overcomes cancellation rumors, it became embroiled in another which involves the show's renewal for season 11 on CBS. While the key stars are undergoing negotiations, the things appear to be stuck at the moment due Kaley Cuoco's anxiety over Melissa Rauch's character and the amount of attention it is getting on the show.

The rumors sparked when the news about the key cast members' salary was reported. Event though the lead cast - Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons - each get a million per episode, there seemed to be a confusion as to what is taking so long to renew the contracts. This is when the gossip about Cuoco's jealousy with Rauch and her character came to surface, reported Morning News USA.

In season 10, Bernadette, who plays Howard's (Simon Helberg) wife, is pregnant and as the baby is on its way, the show takes viewers to the complications faced by parents-to-be and also the would-be-mother's anxieties. This is taking the fans' attention off Penny, making Bernadette the popular female character on the show.

As far as Penny is concerned, her character is stuck around her marriage with Leonard and her relationship with other characters on the show. Many believe that Penny's character has reached its peak and it either requires a new subplot or the writers should gradually write her off the storyline as her character is not adding to the plot anymore.

Bernadette, however, has progressed fairly well for someone who started off with a small side role in the show. Today she is enjoying as much screen space as the lead actress, Cuoco, much to her dismay and insecurity.

iTech Post reported that rather than considering a possibility of removing her from "The Big Bang Theory", they may give her a pregnancy arc too. This will help balance things out on the show and will help in faster contract renewal.
