The latest NBA trade news involves the movement of Jeremy Grant from Philadephia 76ers to Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC). The agreement was made after thorough consideration on Nov. 1, Tuesday.
The information about the exchange was first announced by OKC General Manager Sam Presti and Executive Vice President. To fetch Grant, the OKC has traded stretch-4 Ersan Ilyasova and a future draft to the Philadephia 76ers.
The Hoopshabit reports that the future draft is unlikely to be ever conveyed, since there are strict protection roles on the first-round pick.
This summer has been particularly busy for OKC. It first traded Orlando Magic for Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis and Ilyasova. Thunder also traded Joffrey Lauvergne and extended the contracts for Victor Oladipo, Steven Adams and Russell Westbrook.
OKC will be able to convey its first picked draft, which is possible during the first allowable draft scheduled to take place in 2020. According to NBA, this will not be possible in case the pick falls within the top 20 picks of draft in 2020. In that case, OKC will send its second draft picks to 76ers in the years 2022 and 2023.
However, how would the trading of Ilyasova and acquisition of Grant is likely to affect both the sides is still unclear. Moreover, the entire reason why this trade was made and who is finally in the winning side with this trade is still a secret.
So far, 22-year-old Grant has appeared in over 144 games in three seasons with Philadelphia. He has averaged 8.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.38 blocks and 1.5 assists. He was originally picked up by 76ers in the 2014 NBA Draft as 39th overall pick.
Meanwhile, it is estimated that Ilyasova will make almost $8.4 million this season. This season is the last one on his contract.
