The recent NBA trade rumors suggest that Boston Celtics will be acquiring Anthony Davis from New Orleans Pelicans. Though the Celtics will not be posing any threat to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference, but they have surely chosen the right path.
The impressive performance of Anthony Davis for the New Orleans Pelicans has not been able to produce ultimate results as the team could not turn out victorious in the matches. This has led to speculations that Davis will take his leave from the Pelicans and find a team where he will be able to contend for a title and set his position right.
Notably, the NBA trade rumor, that is doing the rounds suggest that the Celtics will be acquiring not just Davis but also Tim Frazier from the Pelicans. And, the Pelicans would be getting Marcus Smart, Amir Johnson, Jaylen Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and two more first-round picks. It is reported that one of these first-round picks would be from the Brooklyn Nets, reports iSports Times.
It remains to be seen whether the Celtics let this blockbuster deal come through as the team will lose several players. It is true that the sentiments of the Celtics may be hurt but they will have to let go of some of their star players to tempt the Pelicans as Davis will no doubt be a gem addition to the team. Moreover, the first round players may also turn out to be great future assets for the team.
It is worth mentioning here that with the addition of Davis to the team, Celtics be a strong contender and may also dominate in the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.
Coming to the addition of Frazier, it will also be a good decision, though the team will be losing Smart in the process. Frazier's average stands at 15.3 points with 9.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game this season, reports ESPN.
Notably, for the Pelicans this season started on a bad note as they lost four times straight. If the team is unable to make improvements, Davis will surely make his way out of New Orleans. However, till 2021 Davis is tied to a contract of $127 million.
