Zen has always been one of AMD's most eagerly anticipated products. It is the company's first attempt to compete at the high-end CPU market since the introduction of the Bulldozer micro-architecture.
A very recent benchmark test of AMD's upcoming x86 Zen architecture has been marked on Blenchmark. This is a relatively unknown aggregate database for Blender tests.
This test was covered by this redditor which shows some very impressive performance, of the chipset, if we take the result at face value.
Sadly, the processor which has tested has no identifying information along with it. So, it is impossible to decide on which variant of AMD's Zen processor the results represent. This is a bit of complication in the test.
Zen is saying that they will start shipping the variants that scale, initially, from 8 cores for Summit Ridge to up to 32 cores for the Naples processor. Although, the result is unquestionably legitimate in nature.
But the lack of identifying information makes it very hard to judge the performance. In very simple words, it is very impressive performance for an 8 core but only decent performance for a 16 core and above, reports Wccftech.
The chipset processor is listed as "AMD Engineering Sample" in the test result also it is several positions above the Core i7 6900k i.e. the octa-core processor the Summit Ridge variant that was originally tested against. Most importantly, it manages the Blender run in 69 seconds that is exactly the same performance as an Intel Xeon E5 2680 v2 processor.
You will not believe but this is a chip that has 10 cores! And it is slightly faster than the Xeon E5 2650 v2, which is an 8 core processor. Both of these feature comparatively low base clocks, as is usually the case with Xeon chips, of 2.8 Ghz and 2.6 Ghz respectively.
After looking at the test result, one can say that it is very refreshing to see the competitive performance from AMD chips after so long. If the confirmation of this chipset will be announced, then, this will change the face of the graphic processor industry.
