The New Orleans Pelicans seems to be in disarray at the start of the 2016-2017 NBA season. Still winless after six games going to the second week of the season, the Pelicans are right now looking for an answer for their misery. Even Anthony Davis is putting up big numbers for the team it didn't translate to wins for them.
Now, reports are spreading that an upset Davis wants to be out of New Orleans and might look for another team. Rumors are currently pointing to the New York Knicks as the possible team for Davis to land. If the trade pushes through it will be the first blockbuster deal on the opening of the season.
According to Sportsrageous, a brewing talk between the Pelicans and Knicks might happen anytime soon. Trade scenario is suggesting that the Pelicans will send Davis to the Knicks in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick Rose.
Porzingis name was dragged in the trade deal after Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek benched the Latvian sophomore in the fourth quarter in a disappointing loss to the Houston Rockets. The move signifies that coach Hornacek is not comfortable giving Porzingis more minutes and might be dealt for a more dependable player like Davis as per stated in the report.
The report also says that the deal between Davis, Porzingis and Rose is legal and pass under the NBA trade rules and guidelines according to ESPN's NBA Trade machine. By further examining, many believe that both teams will benefit from this trade.
The Inquisitr has reported that having Davis in the Knicks lineup would give them an established superstar who would be a dominating force in the league in the future. Currently, Davis is holding a monstrous stats of 30.0 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game after six outing. It will be a big boost to the Knicks offensively and defensively if ever.
As for the Pelicans, the arrival of Porzingis and Rose would mean a rebuilding approach for them as per stated in the report. Porzingis would be their foundation for the future and Rose would be a big lift in the backcourt as a temporary replacement for Jrue Holiday who is out and still attending to his sick wife.
The report also says that the possibility that this trade would happen is in the hands of Davis if he is willing to wait for the Pelicans to improve and if vice president and general manager Dell Demps would set him free.
