Lance Stephenson signed with the New Orleans Pelicans last September 14. And he is playing quite well in his 6 games with the New Orleans Pelicans. He averages 9.7 points, 4.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.
But a groin injury that requires a surgery and 6-10 week absence made the Pelicans arrived at the decision to waive Stephenson, per NBA.
It is also said that the Pelicans will cover Stephenson's rehab and pay him until he's healthy. Stephenson will be back in the league after he recovers from the injury probably after a couple of months. It is also possible that he might be back in the Pelicans lineup.
Archie Goodwin was drafted as the 29th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He then traded to the Golden State Warriors and once again traded to the Phoenix Suns. All of this trades happened just on draft night.

Pelicans have two regular players in the injured list. Guard Tyreke Evans and small forward Quincy Pondexter. Jrue Holiday is not injured but can't join the Pelicans because he's attending to his wife after having a brain surgery.
As a result of this, the New Orleans Pelicans still failed to get their first win of the season. They are now 0-7 in the season. They lost to the Denver Nuggets, San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies and twice to the Golden State Warriors.
Pelicans is the only team remaining in the Western Conference that is yet to win a game this season. The Philadelphia 76ers is the only team aside from the Pelicans that is still unable to get a victory.
Anthony Davis is playing in MVP level. He always carried the offensive load for the Pelicans. As a matter of fact, he is averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game, as reported by ESPN. But Davis lack the support that he needed.
