Demi Lovato won two People's Choice Awards this year, including "Favorite Female Artist" and "Favorite Music Fan Following," but was curiously absent from the big event, causing some people to tweet her some rather nasty things that the singer recently responded to.
Late last night, Lovato tweeted a series of messages: "Damn... Just hopped online to check twitter and some 'fans' are being really mean :(...I'm not a the PCA's because as I have stated before, I'm taking as much time off this month as possible...I haven't taken a substantial amount of time off in a long time and now I am. Thank you for those who voted and understand why I am away."
Apparently some followers were tweeting things that the 21-year-old pop star took to heart, including some calling the star "fat," "lazy," and "ungrateful" for choosing not to attend the awards ceremony Wednesday night.
"There are 'fans' who say they support me, then they hate on me, my personal life and my loved ones....," Lovato wrote.
As Lovato will begin her international "Neon Lights Tour" this February, she's taking as much time off as possible from work until then. The former "X-Factor" judge has previously announced that she will spend 2014 focusing solely on her music career, which includes a fifth album currently in the works, though she's remained mum on the direction and musical style.
