Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson seems to be the darling of NBA trade rumors nowadays. After being linked to be traded away to the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves, another rumor emerges linking him to the Orlando Magic as his possible team destination.
Thompson was battered by many critics regarding his continuous slump this season. He only averages 17.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in a dismal 20.8% three-point shooting after seven games a far cry from his last season averages of 22.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists with 42.5% in the three-point line.
Many pundits are saying that the reason behind Thompson's dropping performance is the inclusion of Kevin Durant in the Warriors roster. Earlier, reports are also saying that Durant will destroy the good chemistry of the Splash Bros. of Thompson and Stephen Curry which seems to be happening right now.
But Thompson said that his shooting woes have nothing to do with Durant. Also, same scenario happens to him last year with Durant not in the team.
But a rumbling trade buzz is pitching the Warriors to trade Thompson while the season is still early. According to NBA Trade Rumors, a possible trade deal between the Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic might get in the way soon.
Trade scenario is suggesting that the Warriors will send Thompson to the Magic in exchange for Serge Ibaka, Mario Herzonja, Aaron Gordon and a 2017 first-round pick.
Though some fans have commented that the trade is too much early to do, some also say that the teams are doing what's right for the business right now. The move will bring in added defense and depth to the Warriors while the Magic acquired one best shooting guard in the league today.
Sportsrageous also reported that if ever the trade pushes thru it could be a reunion of sorts for Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka who've been teammates in Oklahoma City Thunder. Ibaka has the same situation with Thompson, struggling to get his form and working not so well in the Magic system.
The report also states that it can be recalled that the Thunder traded Ibaka to the Magic this offseason and many say was one of the main reason why Durant left the Thunder and join the Warriors. With a possible arrival of Ibaka, chemistry will not be a question for both of them as they bonded to the Thunder for eight years.
