Ever wish to sell some of your works that you showcase on Instagram? Right on Instagram? Now, it's reportedly going to be possible.
According to Instagram, they want to sell your items on their app without interrupting user interface or even needing to scroll down. Apparently, the developers are after this new experiment allowing users to shop for those on their wish list to be purchased right on Instagram itself. It eliminates the user needs to migrate to retailer apps or even Amazon.
This feature, however, is still exclusive to Apple environment for the time being where about 20 brands are being considered for the testing purposes.
The process called 'photo-tagging' usually heard either on Facebook or Twitter where users tag each other for recognition. It is also the same method but here, instead of faces, there will be different products being tagged thereby making it useful for buyers to hop in right into their product of choice.
The retailers will tag their products in their photos but hidden which can be unlocked on 'tap to view' basis. After selecting users' needs, it will then redirect to their product page where they can check for detailed description and information about what they're buying and place the order for them.
Now, on assumption, this is going to benefit a lot of small businesses relying heavily on social media for their sales. This would also eliminate the needs of having a website to continue their e-commerce online.
However, a dedicated website is still the way to go. Why you'd ask? What'll happen if you want a refund in lieu of the product? Instagram hasn't made this clear yet but however, the new experiment is surely bound to keep a lot of manufacturers on their toes.
Instagram, however, won't be taking a cut for whatever purchases made on their app but however instead plans to monetize the product at a later time also making way for more brands to be suggested to the users who don't follow them.
Overall, Instagram's for sure going to generate a lot or revenue in one or the other ways and also add a lot of users who're yet to set up an account themselves.
But for the time being, since it's still experimental, not everything can be speculated out of the box hence making it a point for users to wait for some time until the feature is available completely in the coming updates.
