The Dallas Mavericks could have a marquee talent before the NBA trade deadline. The popular team has a couple of promising and young players that the other teams dreamed of having. This time, Dallas Mavericks made their big moves during the offseason. The results were, however, not so ideal in the 2016-17 NBA season.
Mavs is currently considered as one of the cellar-dwelling teams in the Western Conference that fuels NBA rumors about them being linked to big-name players. Brook Lopez seems to be regarded as an expandable piece for the Brooklyn Nets.
According to the reports, the Nets are not expected to become a winning team this season despite the changes which they have made to their roster. Jeremy Lin together with a handful of veterans in Randy Foye and Luis Scola has joined the team, yet it will not still guarantee success since the team is lacking on their roster.
Brook Lopez to Dallas Mavericks
The rumor about Brook Lopez leaving the Brooklyn Nets might happen sooner than expected. As one of the top centers in the league today, Lopez is not getting much attention because he is not playing for a title-contending team.
Reports say that Brooklyn might deal with Lopez before the annual trade deadline in February. If the Nets will decide to let go of their towering starting center, Dallas Mavericks is one the active suitors that is interested hire Lopez. Mavs needs to shore up their frontline, therefore, having Lopez in their team would be of great help.
According to Hoops Habit, Brooklyn thinks that the appeal in making this trade would be Bogut's expiring contract and the potential to land a first-round draft pick. If the Nets could somehow convince the Mavericks to give up Bogut's expiring contract, Dwight Powell and a first-rounder. It will likely be a victory for both sides.
Lopez missed 19 games over the past seasons. He finished 20th in points per game, 20th in usage percentage, and 18th the PER in the last year's season.
With Brook Lopez on the team, Brooklyn's net rating was -3.7 points per 100 possessions.
