Brooklyn (14-21) is working on turning around their losing season after stringing together four straight wins. More impressively, the Nets won their last two games without All-Star Deron Williams.

Williams is sidelined with his third left ankle sprain of the season and is in a walking boot after receiving multiple injections in both ankles. There isn't a specific timetable for Williams' return, and the team said on Wednesday he would be re-evaluated at the end of the week.

Joe Johnson stepped up in Williams' absence, averaging 25 points over the last two games. With their first three-game winning streak of the season under their belt, the Nets appear to be finding rhythm on offense.

"The confidence is in the fight," Nets star Kevin Garnett said, via ESPN. "(Nets coach Jason Kidd has) done a great job of just continuing to explain what he wants out of this offense and I think we're picking it up slowly but surely."

"We got down, but we didn't give in," Nets forward Andray Blatche said of Wednesday's win over Golden State. "We continued to fight and we closed it out."

Miami (27-9), meanwhile, had their own three-game winning streak snapped on Thursday in a 102-92 loss to the New York Knicks. Heat stars LeBron James (32 points) and Dwyane Wade (23 points) provided the only source of offense for the Heat, who had trouble stifling Carmelo Anthony.

"They played a great game," said James. "They made some timely shots."
