The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the teams who had a blistering start in the early going of the NBA regular season. But recent struggles show that they need some retooling on their roster. Now, rumors are spreading that they are looking to sign Sacramento Kings Rudy Gay to get back into contention.
After holding a 6-1 record, the Thunder stumble to 4 consecutive losses hinting that they are missing the services of one key player last season, Kevin Durant. Durant who is one key component to their success last season decide to leave the team and join the Golden State Warriors.
To fill in the hole that Durant vacated, the Thunder are making their move to acquire Rudy Gay from the Kings.
According to The Inquisitr, the Oklahoma City Thunder already preach that they are "interested in bigger wings" which seems to be pointing to Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay. And it makes sense that he is a perfect replacement for KD's spot.
Gay, who is averaging 21.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game with a remarkable 42.4 percent shooting percentage in the three-point arc, will immediately give an added boost on the offensive game of the Thunder. Having him could also somehow ease some burden to Russell Westbrook who is anchoring the team's main offense.
On the separate report by CBSSports.com, the Thunder gave an initial offer to the Kings a package that includes Cameron Payne in exchange for Gay. However, Payne broke his foot during team scrimmage making the deal suspended. However, the Thunder's interest to Gay still remain even the initial deal just called off.
Thunder general manager Sam Presti can still make things around for their team and might look for an alternative trade offer to the Kings in order to acquire the services of Rudy Gay. But what the Thunder could offer to lure the Kings to give up Gay is what to watch for.
Can the Oklahoma City Thunder be able to sign Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay before the trade deadline?
