After Snapdragon 820 and 821 SoC's, Qualcomm announced the new Snapdragon 835 processor, which will be more powerful and efficient than the existing smartphones processors available in the tech market. The new chipset is designed for the upcoming flagships of 2017 from different tech giants.
Again, Samsung and Qualcomm partnered for the manufacturing of the new Snapdragon 835 SoC on the newest 10nm FinFET process. It is reported that Snapdragon 835 chipset will be 30 percent more efficient and will have 27 percent improved performance than the previous chipsets.
Qualcomm claimed that the new chipset brings Quick Charge 4.0, allowing battery to get charged 20 percent faster than the previous chipsets. Earlier, 80 percent of the battery charging would take at least 35 minutes. Snapdragon 835 can deliver five hours or more with just 5 minutes in charging time.
Alex Katouzian, senior vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies said "As mobile devices become more capable and feature rich, people tend to use them more. That's why consumer demand and awareness for fast-charging solutions is now at an all-time high. Quick Charge 4 addresses that need by providing up to 50 percent battery charge in roughly 15 minutes or less, so you don't have to spend all day chained to your charging cable."
According to Extreme Tech, Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV) for real-time thermal management is introduced with the new Quick Charge 4.0. It is reported that the INOV is capable of detecting quality and type of charging cable to ensure the charger offers adequate power to the battery.
Additional safety features are implemented with this new Quick Charge 4.0 by measuring the current, voltage and temperature at various stages in order to protect the battery, cables, adaptor and the device as a whole.
It is reportedly stated that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipsets will be shipped by end of 2016 to feature in the upcoming flagships of 2017 from different smartphone tech giants.
