Patriots quarterback Tom Brady may not have the gaudy numbers, but his work with a depleted offense is arguably one of the greatest feats of his career. Without Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez and only seven games from Rob Gronkowski, Brady guided New England (12-4) to the AFC East title and a first-round playoff bye.

The lack of weapons in the passing game made the Patriots offense more reliant on their running game, a quartet of halfbacks seemingly in a continual rotation, which gives defensive coordinators an added challenge in game planning.

"It's a heck of a challenge," Colts coach Chuck Pagano said, via ESPN. "What LeGarrette (Blount) is doing and (Stevan) Ridley and certainly with Shane (Vereen) coming in, and (Brandon) Bolden is no slouch. I mean, they've got a stable of guys that are all more than capable."

Indianapolis (11-5) as a whole proved more than capable in last weekend's Wildcard comeback against the Kansas City Chiefs. Helmed by second-year quarterback Andrew Luck, the Colts came back in the second half from a 28-point deficit to topple Kansas City, 45-44.

"It was a tremendous performance coming back in the second half," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "They did a really good job in all three areas of the game. This is a team that's well coached, that's had a real good season. They beat some of the best teams in the league, in both the AFC and NFC. They've just been impressive."
