David Cassidy Arrested ‘Again’ for Drunk Driving

American singer and songwriter David Cassidy was arrested on late Friday for drunk driving for the third time.

After making an illegal turn at the 405 Freeway near the Los Angeles International Airport, former teen idol Cassidy was stopped by enforcers and discovered he was driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).

On an alcohol test performed by the California Highway Patrol officer who caught the 63-year old Cassidy, he blew .19 percent - twice the permissible level.

The alcohol test conducted was the breathalyzer test. It is done using a handheld device which can give results quickly. The portable device checks for alcohol on a person's breath as a way to determine the level of intoxication and overall blood alcohol.

Cassidy, who resides in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was imprisoned for DUI on early Saturday and was freed hours after under a $15,000-bond.

"Cassidy was observed making a right turn on a red light, in violation of a black and white regulatory sign indicating, 'No Right Turn On Red'." the officer told CNN.

When he was stopped, the officer noticed the smell of the familiar odor of an alcoholic beverage from the vehicle.

Cassidy's latest arrest marks his third time. His first arrest was on November 2010, where he was sentenced to a year's probation and license suspension for six months. On top of that, he was forced to attend a DUI school, served 50 hours of community service and was fined with $500.

Another one followed in August 2013 in Schodack, New York. Reportedly, he was originally pulled for driving with headlights on high-beam, but the officer noted the smell of alcohol so he tested Cassidy with the Breathalyzer device where he blew a .10 percent. The permissible blood alcohol level in New York is .8 percent.
