iPhone 6S repair program for sudden shutdowns launched; Tim Cook confirms free battery replacement eligibility

It seems that Apple is also experiencing power troubles that hounded Samsung's Note 7 for most part of the year.

In the wake of the iPhone 6S immediate shutdown problems, the Cupertino-based company is offering a solution that will address the issue. As of late, battery replacements are being extended to affected owners of the cited iPhone model. The procedure is free of charge.

In a statement, Apple is quick to point out that only a handful of iPhone 6S items are experiencing unpredictable shutdowns. It has also added that the concern here is not related to safety measures.

The company has managed to zero in on the coverage of the disturbed items. iPhones produced between September and October 2015 have been identified as those most probably bearing undisclosed power outages.

In line with this, the Tim Cook-led organization is advising all distressed 6S users to go to the company's retail outlets or authorized service dealers in order to have the serial numbers of their units checked. This approach is necessary to confirm free battery replacement eligibility. Program coverage runs for three years after the initial retail sale.

In the wake of the restoration or technical part substitution process, Apple is reminding everyone that certain conditions also apply when iPhone 6S woes are being addressed.

It is vital to note that units with other damages such as a broken display surface are not included in the repair program until the battery issue is resolved. In addition, owners who paid for the replacement procedures can notify the tech group's customer support division about the methods in getting a refund.

Prior to the current problem, Apple has also been hounded by the Touch Disease issue. A flurry of reproach has floored the organization for instituting a service fee that amounted to $149 for addressing the trouble.

However, Apple has been quick to justify that the charge was collected since iPhone owners affected by the Touch Disease have claimed that their devices were damaged due to being dropped.
