‘Star Wars’ Episode 8: Search for Rey’s parentage continues; may hail from royal ancestry

Star Wars fans are eagerly waiting for Episode 8 with one question in mind, who are Rey's parents?

According to Movie Pilot, when Rey was a child, she was abandoned on the remote planet of Jakku. Her parentage has been kept secret till now and is expected to play a major role in the story's arc.

Fans have been contributing different theories to this as they wait for the next movie. According to one such theory posted in Reddit, there is a high chance that royal blood runs through Rey's veins.

The theory further explained that Rey is from royalty and the very reason she was hidden on planet Jakku is for her own safety.

Star Wars universe has dealt with Royalty plots always. Various planets had monarchy system before the Galactic Empire came into existence. Galactic Empire's tyrannical act to overthrow all the existing royal families may have a significant importance in Rey's life.

Rey, being the part of a royal family also faced with life and death situation when the First Order took it in their hands to destroy her planet and kill the rulers.

The theory suggests that somehow guards loyal to the royal family was able to sneak Rey out and save her life by sending her to Jakku, a deserted planet where finding her would be very difficult.

Movie Pilot further stated that even after the severe destruction the royal families had to suffer first by Galactic Empire's and then later by the First Order, some royal members still live.

Rey's royal blood, if that's what actually happened, could give a dynamic aspect to her role in future movies.

Other fans theorize Luke Skywalker or Han Solo as Rey's father, but Rey being descendent from royalty is definitely one theory to dwell upon.

Star Wars: Episode 8 is scheduled to hit theaters on December 15, 2017.
