MTV's slasher-horror series, Scream, had been plagued with cancellation rumors ever since the last episode for the second season had been aired on October.
With no single updates from the studio that time, fans were worried that the cancellation of the series might really be happening so they united and 'screamed' for a season renewal.
But this time the show has announced and confirmed that a new season is going to come but with a sad news for the fans. Instead of a 12-episode long season, the third season of the series only consists of 6 episodes to air. This news had brought upsetting vibes for some fans.
According to Movie News Guide, the announcement of the upcoming season only consisting of six episodes, would mean that the MTV series is doing its partial goodbye to the loyal fans and followers of the show. It has been reported that the production team has been planning on cancelling the series after season 2 because of the continuous drop in ratings.
However, the show had apparently took the risk of renewing for a third season because of some factors that have made the series different from the others. As reported by Blum House, there were a lot to consider why it was a good idea to renew the series for a season 3.
As stated, this television series reportedly has a more complex and real characters compared to the other slasher-horror films or series that fans had seen. Additionally, people can be attached and grow into the characters unlike the others that uses a unidimensional style of characters and image.
Also, according to a report, among the Scream series and movies that the people have seen, this one on MTV has a greater horror and thriller story that consists of tension, relevance and unrealism. These elements reportedly bring a sense of connection, comfort and mystery that can be added up to give a good television series.
But after the third season of Scream, fans do not really know if it is still going to extend or not. Further announcements will be given by the network soon enough.
