'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Update: New teaser trailer thrills with epic action-packed Stormtrooper showdown

The first clip for the upcoming Star Wars standalone movie "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has finally arrived. It's going to be an action-packed scene that sees Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso and Diego Luna's Cassian Andor battling a bunch of Stormtroopers.

Production and Crew

The storyline for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is set way before the original Star Wars, focusing on a group of mercenaries who are hired to capture the plans to the Death Star. It is directed by Gareth Edwards, who also directed "Godzilla." Along with the film are stars Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, and Mads Mikkelsen.

Riz Ahmed Teases Details

In a recent interview, Riz Ahmed spoke about his unbelievable experience of working on a film of Rogue One's size for the very first time.

"I don't think there will be anything like a Star Wars film when it comes to scale," he said. "It was my very first studio movie, so to go from Nightcrawler to this was an absolute big shift. I'm not going to lie, though--to see a thousand film extras dressed as Stormtroopers will definitely freak anyone out."

The Film Is Going To Be Big

Ahmed continued saying, "Probably, the biggest difference between a small film compared to a large film is that you had a bit more time, which is a gift as well as a curse, because you can go back and repeat things, which to someone like me is great because of how obsessive I am. I also believe you can have too much time to think about things, which is not always a good thing."

Rogue One Will Be Huge Success

Tickets for Rogue One have already gone on sale on Monday. According to reports, the movie has already netted the second-highest first day of pre-sales in U.S. box office history.

Box office estimates it making $130 million or more for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" December 16-18 opening weekend in the U.S. That would definitely be the second-biggest December U.S. opening ever, behind only 2015's (Well, what do you know) "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
