New Zealand won the first T20 on Saturday by 81 runs. Luke Ronchi earned the Man of the Match award for his performance, which included 48 runs (not out), and skipper Brendon McCullum helped with a game-high 60 runs (not out). On the bowling front, Nathan McCullum took four wickets and James Neesham took three.
"We've got another opportunity to close out a series and we missed one the other day [in Hamilton] and if we're serious about trying to win big tournaments then we've got to close out these sort of games, so Wellington presents a big challenge for us and I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond," McCullum said, via CricBuzz.com.
West Indies' batsmen struggled on the pitch. Not one batsman came even close to the half-century mark - Andre Fletcher scored a team-high 23 runs. The team performed better on the bowling front, where Tino Best took three wickets and Nikita Miller took two.
For West Indies to even the series, they will need better at-bats from the likes of skipper Dwayne Bravo and Johnson Charles.
