Johnny Depp is reportedly being considered to play Dr. Strange in an upcoming Marvel's movie. According to reports, there has been talks that Dr. Strange will get his own superhero movie. The casting rumor comes from Latino Review, who does have a pretty good track record of getting superhero movie buzz correct.
According to the site, a "well-connected source" revealed that Depp had a meeting with Marvel Studios to see if he was interested in taking the role. So far nothing is official. Depp, who already has connections to Marvel - the studio is owned by Disney who produces the "Pirates of The Caribbean" movies - is said to be a comic book fans and is definitely interested in playing Dr. Strange.
Marvel announced on Jan. 13 that actor Michael Douglas would plat Hank Pym in the "Ant-Man" movie. The film is scheduled for a 2015 release date and will be directed by Edgar Wright. The upcoming Dr. Strange movie is rumored to be released in 2016.
Douglas joins Paul Rudd, who was cast as Scott Lang, Ant-Man's alter ego. Sources claim the film will follow Lang as he tries to steal the Ant-Man suit and Pym's super powers.
"With Hank Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, we know we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told Variety. "We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn't be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life."
The next Marvel movie to hit theaters will be "Guardians of the Galaxy," which is said to have a release date of July 2015.
