'Star Wars' Episode 8 Spoilers: Ewan McGregor might return as Obi-Wan Kenobi; First trailer release at 'Rogue One' premiere?

The second film from the Star Wars sequel trilogy franchise, Star Wars: Episode 8, is one of the most-awaited films next year and even though the movie is yet to be seen until December 2017, fans are already hyped and are more than excited to see the sequel.

It has been previously reported that some of the events that Star Wars fans could expect in the sequel are the detailed revelation of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the Knights of Ren story, and more clues seen by Rey (Daisy Ridley) from her Force vision.

But according to recent reports, Obi-Wan Kenobi, portrayed by Ewan McGregor is possibly returning on Episode VIII. Independent UK has reported that a spin-off that will focus on Obi-Wan's solo series is currently put on hold to use the character in the upcoming sequel.

Entertainment Weekly's Anthony Breznican had previously talked about the spin-off and revealed that the Star Wars trilogy production company, LucasFilm, was discussing about bringing the character back on the Saga films, either Episode 8 or 9.

He said that the reason why the producers are not moving forward with Obi-Wans solo spin-off for now is because they are not yet done with the character in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. So fans think that this might be a good reason why LucasFilm is not going to do the spin-off yet.

Citizen Oracle has reported that these are just some of the events that will be expected when Star Wars: Episode 8 will be released next year. According to the source, the most-awaited trailer for the film is rumored to be shown on the first quarter next year. But there has also been speculations that the trailer will appear on the day of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story premiere.

Meanwhile, on the topic of Rogue One, LucasFilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, revealed that the upcoming movie of the Star Wars anthology, will not be having a sequel. Kennedy reportedly said that it was designed as a standalone film, thus a follow-up is not needed no matter how successful the film will be.

Rogue One will hit the big screens on December 16, 2016 while Star Wars: Episode 8 is scheduled for a December 15, 2017 release.
