It has been previously rumored that American action police procedural television series, NCIS, is going to get cancelled soon. Nevertheless, fans of the show cannot be stopped and are still looking forward for new episodes to air, disregarding the rumors.

After the brief hiatus due to a Thanksgiving holiday break, the series comes back on televisions this week and possible exciting events that are going to be shown are heavily speculated online.

The eight episode of season 14 titled 'Enemy Combatant' previously tackled on Navy chaplain murder case and Emily Wickersham's character, Eleanor Bishop, got a Thanksgiving visit from her brothers who were asking about her current lovelife.

According to International Business Times, episode 9 will focus on a supporting character, just like on the previous season. The upcoming episode will reportedly pay attention to NCIS Director, Leon Vance, portrayed by Rocky Carroll, as he supervises the temporary protection detail of a congresswoman who is under murder threat.

The team is going to handle another critical case that will involve Congresswoman Jenna Fleming, portrayed by Mary Stuart Masterson. TV Guide reported that the team will have to hunt the culprit responsible for the increasing threats against the politician, and Director Vance is the one who will oversee the whole operation.

Meanwhile, the truth about the series' cancellation has not been confirmed yet. It has been previously reported that even though CBS renewed the show for another season, there could still be a possibility that they may cancel the series especially now that it has been reported that NCIS main cast, Mark Harmon is going to follow former cast Michael Weatherly's decision to depart from the series.

Harmon portrays main protagonist, Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, but reports are constantly appearing that he really is planning to leave the show to deal with his health problems. Until now, the actor still has not confirmed this yet.

However, fans are positive that the series will continue airing even with the possibility of the main cast's departure.

Episode 9 of NCIS Season 14 with the title "Pay to Play" is scheduled to air on December 6, 2016 on CBS.
