Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrived at the home of Justin Bieber on Tuesday morning with a warrant in regards to vandalized property at a neighboring home, but arrested one of his house guests for illegal drug possession instead, CNN reported.
A search warrant was issued so sheriffs could get surveillance videos from Bieber's home in regards to an egging of a neighbors house which took place on Jan. 9 and caused damages of about $20,000, according to CNN.
"The purpose of the search warrant is to seek video surveillance or other possible evidence in the vandalism that occurred on January 9, 2014," the sheriff's statement read, CNN reported.
Bieber and his guests were asleep when the officers arrived to seize the surveillance footage at 8.a.m, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Lt. David Thompson told CNN.
According to Thompson Bieber's extensive security system captures almost all movement on the property and detectives will be viewing the tapes for clues to determine if Bieber and his friends were behind the vandalism, CNN reported.
Thompson stated the pop star was "cooperative" but would not answer questions in regards to the egging without his lawyer present, according to CNN. Bieber hasn't spoken to investigators about last week's incident, and his representative had declined comment.
Officers did arrest rapper Lil Za, after illegal drugs were found during the search, CNN reported. Thompson initially stated it was cocaine, but later said it would be sent for tests to confirm the substance.
Lil Za, or Xavier Smith, is 20-year-old rapper was scheduled to be released on a $20,000 bond, Thompson said, according to CNN. If evidence is found that Bieber and his guests were behind the egg-throwing, he could face felony charges.
