The Boston Celtics seem to be not done looking for a superstar player that they can add to their roster. But now, trade rumors are speculating that they are making a move to acquire John Wall from the Washington Wizards and set up a trade deal in the coming days.
The Celtics is one of the busiest team during the off-season trying to enhance their lineup for the upcoming season. And they were not disappointed, acquiring Al Horford in the trade market as a free agent that will surely beef up their frontcourt. And currently, they are doing well at the start of the season holding a 12-9 record and sitting at the 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference division.
But reports are saying that they are still not satisfied with their current cast and wants for more upgrade. Now, a proposed trade deal is being suggested to the Boston Celtics and Washington Wizards that involves 3 players and a future draft pick. Trade scenario is saying that the Wizards will send John Wall to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, and a first-round draft pick.
Thomas could somehow replace Wall in the Wizard rotation and though some say that he is a downgrade, he is matching Wall's production averaging 26.3 points, 6.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game. While the Wizards can use Smart in the defensive end which he is known for plus a first-round draft choice that could be a steal for them.
As for the Celtics, there is no doubt that Wall will definitely a big improvement on their backcourt. The 3-time NBA All-Star is averaging 22.3 points, 9.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game this season and a tandem with Horford might be fearsome to other teams. Playing alongside Terry Rozier is also a must see, as both players are said to be two of the fastest point guards in the league as other observed.
And as per checking with ESPN NBA Trade Machine, the trade will work under the NBA trade rules and salary cap restriction making it a legal deal and will have the approval of league official. It is now in the hands of both teams if they are willing to sit down and talk this trade seriously.
