‘Galaxy S8’ Updates: Samsung reportedly ditches headphone jack, dual lens camera and home button

Customers are anxiously waiting for Samsung Galaxy S8 after the huge success of its predecessor Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Meanwhile, Samsung seems to be in an experimental mode with the upcoming device as it is cancelling many features from Galaxy S8.

Sammobile confirms that Galaxy S8 will not have any headphone jack. Instead the device will feature a single USB Type-C port for charging and listening to music.

The result for this move is a thinner device that can house a larger battery. Because of a lack of jack, the phone is expected to receive stereo speakers for higher audio quality.

Despite such pros, many users are skeptical about using a phone with no headphone jack.

Another confirmed news from Sammobile is that the Galaxy S8 will feature a 2K display like its predecessor and not a 4K display as many were expecting.

Headphone jack is not the only feature that Samsung is dropping. If rumors to be believed then as per Tech Times, the upcoming flagship device will not sport a dual-camera setup.

Moreover, GSMArena claimed that the device will not display any home button at all. By ditching the home button, Samsung will showcase a bigger screen for the users.

Since there will be no home button, a fingerprint scanner will be placed underneath the screen to carry out the process.

There are further reports of Galaxy S8 packing a Snapdragon 830 processor and Exynos chips instead of usual Snapdragon 821.

The device is expected to use an RGB Super AMOLED panel instead of a Diamond PenTile-based, resulting in a high quality, crispier picture and screen display.

A better picture quality will go well with the VR headset and customers can enjoy more sharp pictures while using the GearVR.
