Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release date pushed back in May 2017; 2-in-1 hybrid to feature SD 835 processor or Intel’s Kaby Lake?

The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to be one of the biggest releases in the coming year. Upcoming device is promising to be a gadget that is worth every penny spent for it especially in terms of its processor.

The Surface Pro 5 has failed to launch this year and its delay was largely attributed to Microsoft deciding to wait for the release of Intel's Kaby Lake processors. However, based on the company's announcement, now it's possible that the next-generation Surface Pro will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 instead, reports BitBag.

The current Surface Pro 4 has already ships with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, so at the very least the Pro 5 will match that specification, which would keep it at the top of the PC spec tree.

Recent reports indicate that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 could come with a rechargeable Surface Pen and USB-C ports. The rechargeable Surface Pen will also have an improved appearance from a plastic design to magnetic look since it will already be. You have an attractive update to the critically acclaimed Surface Pro family.

The Surface Pro sits in the space between full-blown laptops and the tablet market, alongside the iPad Pro, according to Forbes.

Assuming that the new Surface Pro 5 will ship with the Kaby Lake architecture in early 2017, the Surface Pro 5 will be more powerful than the Apple's latest MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops line up.

There are many technical trade-offs to make when deciding about laptop specification. However, Apple has focused on maintaining a long battery life on the new MacBook Pro machines and of course the volume of processors required for the launch of arguably one of the fastest selling laptops of recent years would have been prohibitive.

With the increased specifications and capability of the Surface Pro 5, Microsoft can depict itself as a company working on the bleeding edge of hardware, it can influence the prominence of the hardware to promote Windows 10 as a platform and this can all be used to increase the reach and awareness of the cloud-based services.

There is still no official announcement from Microsoft about the release of the Surface Pro 5 but it is believed to be launched in Spring 2017. This will be same time when the Kaby Lake chip will be made available to the public.

Reports reveal that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 could start selling at $899 and could reach $1599 depending on the storage and features.
