‘Deadpool 2’ Latest News & Updates: 4 villains to go vs Ryan Reynolds’ character

Production for "Deadpool 2" is speeding up, with "John Wick" director David Leitch replacing Tim Miller as the director for the sequel. There are a lot of rumors and speculation about what's to come in the highly-awaited sequel, including the potential introduction of Morena Baccarin as Copycat.

Ryan Reynold's Wade Wilson/Deadpool faced Ajax in the first film, and the character is expected to face bigger baddies in the sequel. Here's a list of the villains rumored to appear in "Deadpool 2."

Cable

This is more truth than fiction as Cable is confirmed to appear in "Deadpool 2." The big question now is who would bring the character to life on the big screen. Among the leading contenders for the role is "Don't Breathe" star Stephen Lang. The actor was reportedly been campaigning for the role by showing off his fit physique during training.

"Friday Night Lights" star Kyle Chandler is also rumored to be considered for the role. According to /FILM, it was rumored that Miller was eyeing Chandler for the role of Cable, but Reynolds didn't agree with him so it further put a strain on their working relationship.

Taskmaster

This mercenary is another villain being rumored to appear in "Deadpool 2." According to Empire, Taskmaster has the ability to mimic the fighting style of a non-superpowered combatant he encounters just by observing him. He uses this skill to sell his moves and train criminal organizations. Deadpool is too unpredictable for Taskmaster to imitate, which could make for an interesting clash between the two.

Puppet Master

The Puppet Master can control people by turning them into puppets using radioactive clay. Much like Taskmaster, the Puppet Master finds it difficult to pin down Deadpool because of his unpredictable mind.

Madcap

Madcap is a supervillain with mutant healing powers that can match, if not exceed, that of Wolverine. He is considered to be Marvel's version of Joker and can have the ability to get inside people's heads. At one point, Madcap and Deadpool fused together, and Madcap became one of the voices Deadpool can hear in his head.

"Deadpool 2" is slated to be released on Jan. 12, 2018.
