Sundance Head was named champion in the recently concluded Season 11 of "The Voice" on December 13. He overtook Billy Gilman who was expected to win by most fans.
The win of Sundance Head was such a shocker to many that the country-soul singer himself could not believe he won the reality television show. Everybody was seeing a clear win with runner-up Billy Gilman which Gold Derby has also expected based on their prediction.
Although America was shocked of the results, it was not an unpleasant surprise to viewers that the wind has turned Head's way. In fact, it brought agreeable nods to many, that The Washington Post pointed out that fans of the show are already shying away from picking bets in favor of famous contestants.
It was noticed in previous seasons of "The Voice" that usual winners have had track records in the music industry. Along the list are Season 10 champion Alison Porter, Season seven winner Craig Wayne Boyd, and Seasons three, five and two champions Cassadee Pope, Tessanne Chin and Jermaine Paul, respectively.
Instead of picking the more famous contestant, viewers are now more concerned whether or not they can relate to the performances of each one. Sundance Head has had that capacity to connect with viewers. His coach, Blake Shelton, has also added that he is a lot like Chris Stapleton, a famous country singer.
Amidst the more famous contestant controversy, it was a wonder to many why Head's involvement in "American Idol" Season 7 in 2007 was not banked upon by "The Voice". He even made it to the finals of the reality TV show. Whatever NBC's reason is, it worked for Head.
Final and full results of "The Voice" Seaso 11 are Sundance Head as champion; Billy Gilman as runner-up; We' McDonald in third place and Josh Gallagher in fourth. This is the fifth time Team Blake Shelton has produced "The Voice" champions.
