The Walking Dead, AMC's hit zombie apocalypse drama, had an impressive midseason finale. Precious little is known about the future of the show's fourth season other than that, given the events of the midseason finale, everything has changed for our loveable group of survivors.
***SPOILER ALERT: The remainder of this article may contain spoilers for the midseason finale of The Walking Dead.***
When last we saw our survivors, the Governor had returned with a tank to take the prison from Rick and the crew by force. However, the Governor's madness finally got the better of him and he laid waste to the prison walls and scattered the group before making them retreat in all separate directions.
That appears to be where we'll pick up with the show when it premiers on February 9. The new trailer for the premiere sets a dark tone as we see the separated survivors finding their way without the safety of the full group for the first time ever, and none of them are doing too well.
"I know we'll never get tings back to the way they used to be," says Rick in a voice over. "It's not going to be easy, but we're not too far-gone. We're survivors."
The trailer seems to set a tone of rebuilding following the collapse of the prison. Where once the group was on the farm that got overrun, they then turned to the prison, which was attacked by the other group of survivors. Between seasons two and three, the group was on the move for the entire winter. Now we'll see some of those skills that have been established for the characters put to use as they wander through the wilderness, suburbs and cities.
Michonne can still chop the heads off multiple walkers with one swing of her blade, but her normal stoic demeanor is not holding together too well as the trailer shows her openly weeping after what looks like a large bout with several zombies.
The last time we saw Glenn, he was recovering from the terrible fever that nearly wiped out the prison population. He was separated from Maggie and it looks like he'll be pushing his way through whatever is in his way to get back to her, whether he's physically fit enough to do so or not.
Rick is recovering from his near fatal loss to the Governor during their fist-fight and Carl is following his father to the ends of the earth if he must.
