Construction industry may be facing a revolution when this house in Russia was built with 3D printers under the cost of $10,000 in less than a day. The house is sized 400 square foot, or 37 square meters, an ideal home for a single executive or young couple.
The company Apis Cor, 3D-printing specialists based in Russia and San Francisco, used a mobile printer on-site and the walls of the building were printed and painted in 24 hours, as reported by The Telegraph.
"Printing of self-bearing walls, partitions, and building envelope were done in less than a day: pure machine time of printing amounted to 24 hours," the company reportedly saying.
Apis Co. founder and mobile printer inventor Nikita Chen-yun-tai claimed that this new technology will allow the company to help people around the world to ensure construction process to become fast, efficient and high-quality as well. This can only be achieved by leveraging on smart technologies and automation.
Breaking through barriers while delivering this magnificent result, he noted one of the challenges faced by other innovators who developed the similar technology, is due to the size of the machine. By overcoming this limitation, he managed to upgrade a construction crane design.
Highlighted by ZeroHedge, this technology by Apis-Cor and its competitors could cause a huge deflationary impact to the construction industry globally, translating into a lower cost of building houses, making it accessible to millions, and probably bring transformation to the mortgage industry in the U.S. banking industry.
"The main components of the house, including the walls, partitions, and building envelope are printed solely with a concrete mixture. Once the house has been completed, the printer is removed with a crane-manipulator and the roof is then added, followed by the interior fixtures and furnishings, as is a layer of paint to the exterior of the house," the report added.
