Nexus 6: Google Pushing Android 7.0 Downgrade OTA Update to Android 7.1.1 Powered Devices

Google pushed Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update for the Nexus 6 users. The company earlier released the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Nexus 6 owners, but user ended up with problems. The recently released Android 7.1.1 Nougat update was seen with several bugs and these bugs were taken up by Google seriously and fixed it in the March Security update. But, Nexus 6 owners found that the update temporarily broke Android Pay.

According to Android Police, the Nexus 6 smartphone users are now receiving an over-the-air update to Android 7.0 Nougat even though the Nexus 6 users are hanging out with the upgraded OS version Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The Subreddit was seen with many reports from users about the new downgrade version of Nougat. Also, reports causing every app to continuously crash after the Android update is complete are also seen.

A Google community manager has responded to the linked Reddit thread and explained the reason by stating

"There was a recent OTA update for Android 7.0 that is causing confusion for some Nexus 6 users. For those of you that want to guarantee future OTA updates, you will need to get back on the 7.0 supported track. If you are experiencing issues after accepting the 7.0 update, please factory reset your device to help resolve any problems.

For any Nexus 6 users that want to continue flashing/sideloading future builds, you can stay on 7.1.1 and continue to do so."

Motorola and Google launched the Nexus 6 smartphone in October 2014. The phone sports a 5.96-inch touchscreen display with1440 x 2560 pixels at a PPI of 493 pixels per inch and it measures 159.26 x 82.98 x 10.06 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 184.00 grams. Under the hood, the Nexus 6 is powered by 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with no option of external storage.

Nexus 6 smartphone packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 2-megapixel front shooter for selfies. The phone is powered by a 3220mAh non-removable battery and offers a single SIM (GSM) slot that accepts a Nano-SIM. The phone can be seen with connectivity options like the Wi-Fi, NFC, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth and 4G. The phone features a Compass Magnetometer, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, and Barometer.
