HTC is reportedly working on the next version of One smartphone featuring a bigger screen, better camera with twin sensors, new processor and more, with an expected launch in March.
HTC is taking the popularity of its "One" branding even further and building the next version of its popular HTC One smartphone. The Taiwanese smartphone maker's new flagship, codenamed M8, according to several media reports, is likely to make a grand debut in March. Although the popular Mobile World Conference 2014 seems a safer bet to show off the next iteration of HTC One, the company is known to have a special conference for any of its big launches. HTC debuted its current flagship smartphone at a press event in February last year-a week before MWC 2013 kicked off.
The phone-maker has not made any official announcement about the next One model but some leaks show the rumored M8 will adopt a similar design like the HTC One. It is expected that the upcoming "HTC One Two" will feature a screen slightly bigger than the current model, at least 5-inches, but smaller than the HTC One Max's 5.9 inches. The picture quality on the display is expected to be sharper and more vibrant, courtesy of the 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution.
As the rumor mill continues to spin, Bloomberg has got information that the HTC M8 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm chipset, the Snapdragon 805, which is yet to hit the market. The camera is also getting upgraded with a new twin sensor UltraPixel rear-facing camera. The new feature will improve auto-focus, image quality and depth of field, Unwired View.com reports.
There is a slight mismatch with the timing of the launch for the new HTC M8, as Qualcomm is expected to launch its new processor only by May this year. But if the Snapdragon 805 is not on the menu for the M8, then it will carry the standard option for all high-end smartphones today, the Snapdragon 800. But all these are just rumors until the company makes it official. The 2014 MWC will bring some news on the handset, even if the company decides to launch it at a later date.
